No, absolutely not! That’s a common misconception driven by an all-or-nothing fitness culture. Your program is built around your actual starting point, determined through your intake forms and movement videos. Exercise intensity is prescribed to match where you are now—not where you think you should be, or where someone expects you to be. Starting with no existing program is often ideal, as it allows us to build things correctly from the ground up while reducing injury risk, unrealistic short-term expectations, and quitting.
Onboarding time can be up to 2 hours depending on your interest level of each pillar of health. Once completed you will get your assigned exercises/mobility/action plans/material within 24-48 hours (usually much less).
You can start with whatever section(s) you're interested in. You can focus on one area, all of them, or anything in between - it's your dashboard. The onboarding process is detail oriented and we suggest you follow the guidelines and provide as much detail/info as you can. Intake forms and intro videos unlock the homepage which is full of tools, articles, tips, coaching notes, and tracking tools for that section.
Our philosophy remains that we need to see you move before we can help you begin. Among other key details, integrating the 4 pillars of health into a cohesive program is what sets us apart from other exercise programs/apps. When you address all factors that affect health rather than 1 or 2 you get real results that last a lifetime. The more detail you provide the better coaching you get.
One main core value of Walinga Fitness is to truly customize your program as if we were seeing you in person. We want to give you the attention and personalization that yields amazing results. To do that we need specific information about your exercise and injury history, how you are currently physically moving (including restrictions, strengths, weaknesses, etc), and various other key elements to your personality, lifestyle, and of course, your goals. Walinga Fitness is the opposite of one size fits all.
The platform is simple and guided step-by-step. If you can shoot and send a video from your phone, you’re good. If you can’t send videos we still have you covered! We provide basic programs that you can modify and progress through depending on your level of fitness.

Yes — this dashboard is designed as a full replacement for 1-on-1 in-person training. It has more personalization and a different approach than other personal training websites/apps. It is backed by Dan Walinga who has been a Personal Trainer featuring in-person coaching since 2007, and has been helping folks online since 2020. He knows what works in person and has transferred that to the online world.
